  • VINTAGE CONDITIONS

After a few consecutive dry years, the vines entered the growing season working hard and this continued with another drier than average season. Although dry, the critical last few month of the growing season were below average in temperature, and this combination of weather was ideal for producing ripe yet varietally expressive wines.

  • WINEMAKING

Various parcels were created individually with the objective of blending these to form a synergistic whole. For this reason, many winemaking techniques were employed, including, cold soaking to ensure vibrant floral notes were present and extended maceration, to ensure a fine and persistent tannin structure was created. Generally, parcels spent between 12-15 days on skins in a mixture of open fermenters and closed static fermenters, reaching temperatures of 26-28⁰C, to ensure optimum flavour and tannins were extracted. All the resulting parcels were matured in oak for 14 months, with the resulting blend spending this time in 20% new French Oak and 80% used French Oak.
